The Whitgift Charities Act 1969 approves two charities:

  • The Whitgift Almshouse Charity (Charity No. 212375)
  • The Whitgift Educational Foundation (Charity No. 312612)

Following approval of a scheme by the Charity Commissioners on 12 February 1997 these charities have joined together as one charity, the name of which is The Whitgift Foundation (Charity No. 312612).

Organisational Structure and Governance

The Court of Governors is the Governing Body of the Whitgift Foundation. The Court carries final responsibility for our Schools, Care Homes, CIS (Carers' Information Service) and properties.

The eight committees:

  • Whitgift Care Committee
  • Finance & Administration Committee
  • Salaries & Conditions of Service Committee
  • Old Palace of John Whitgift School Committee
  • Trinity School Committee
  • Whitgift School Committee
  • Education Committee
  • Governance & External Relations Committee

All contribute towards the daily running of the Schools, Care Homes and properties.

Day to day management of the Foundation is vested in the Clerk, the Schools with Heads and the Care Homes with the Head of Care and Warden.
