Support for carers with back to school worries available at the Carers Support Centre.
When your child has a disability or Special Educational Needs (SEN), going back to school can be a welcome return to the normal routine, but it can also be a challenge. To help make things easier, Carer’s Information Service (CIS) have provided a list of events and resources to help support families:
New Caring for a Child factsheet for Croydon parent carers
CIS new Caring for a Child factsheet for parents and carers of a disabled child or child with SEN is now available to download from their website. The guide contains local information on support organisations, education, work, social care, leisure and much more. Paper copies will be available shortly at the Carers Support Centre, based at 24 George Street, Croydon.
Education, Health and Care Plan Drop-Ins
If you are confused about Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and want some support, Croydon Independent Support Service can help. Mental capacity workshop for parents with Parents in Partnership
The law around decision-making can seem complex and many parents and carers are unsure where they stand. To help parents and carers clarify what the law says, Parents in Partnership (PIP) is offering a Mental Capacity Workshop on Thursday 6 October, 10am - 12.30pm at the Carers Support Centre. Led by Philip Warford, the workshop will cover the law regarding decision-making, mental capacity, Court of Protection and Power of Attorney. To book a place, please call the PIP office on 020 8663 5626 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
