Carers Support Centre offers sessions on ways to stay healthy and manage stress.

The Carers’ Information Service runs a monthly calendar packed with a wide range of support services and specialist advice to carers at the Carers Support Centre, based at 24 George Street, Croydon.

Here we’ve put together a selection of three forthcoming activities centred on health and wellbeing taking place at the Carers Support Centre:

Looking after yourself at the Carers’ Information Service

Being a carer can be rewarding, but it can also take a toll on your health. According to Carers UK’s State of Caring Survey 2015, 84% of carers said they felt more stressed and over three quarters (76%) were concerned about the impact of caring on their health. If you’re in this situation, the Carers’ Information Service is here to help, offering a range of free training, workshops, advice surgeries and wellbeing activities alongside our regular drop in advice service for carers at the Carers Support Centre (Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm).

Take back control with our Managing Stress workshop

Whilst a little bit of stress can be healthy, too much stress can have a negative impact on your health. To help you take back control, the Carers’ Information Service is offering a free one-day workshop on Managing Stress on 10 May, 10am-3pm. This free workshop looks at health and wellbeing for carers and offers practical tips on looking after yourself when life gets tough. Last remaining places are available, so don’t delay – book your place now by emailing ruthlaws@carersinfo.org.uk or call 020 8649 6280.

Looking after yourself and your health at the Carers Support Centre

As well as our stress workshop, there are plenty of ways to take care of yourself at the Carers Support Centre this spring. Did you know that singing can be good for you? Get ready for a singalong with the Carers Singing Group on 20 April 11am-12pm. Research also suggests that social activities like reading groups can boost health and longevity. If you enjoy a good read, settle down with a good book and some great conversation with our Carers Book Club. Or why not join us for some relaxing craft, knitting or colouring with Craft & Chatter on Friday 29 April 11am-12.30pm at the Carers Café?
