Trinity Triathlon 2016 returns with an expected 500 participants this weekend.

As pressure mounts on the Government to publish its delayed Childhood Obesity Strategy, over 500 youngsters aged 8-19 years will be demonstrating what a healthy lifestyle looks like by taking part in the Trinity Triathlon, named by Triathlon England as Best Children’s Event 2015 for the London Region. One of the largest events of its kind in the UK and now in its sixth edition, the Trinity Triathlon takes place this weekend on Sunday 3rd July. It has attracted a record number of participants competing in the water, on their bikes and running.

Set up by Trinity School (Croydon) in the run up to the Olympic Games in 2011 with the support of the Crystal Palace Triathlon Club, Trinity Triathlon has enjoyed growing success.
Numbers of entries have grown from 140 in its first year to over 500 in 2015 and 2016. Volunteers from the School community and Crystal Palace Triathlon Club, the event mentors will once again be crucial to the smooth running of the Triathlon and the enjoyment of participants and spectators alike, as will the pre-planned road closure by TFL for the cycling event.

Race Organiser, Tim Deakin from Trinity School said: “I am looking forward to welcoming all our Trinity Triathlon participants. The Triathlon is now in its sixth year and attracting more competitors than ever, including many children for whom this will be their first triathlon, in the true spirit of the Olympic legacy which inspired it.”
