Whitgift House shares the importance of connecting with local community at Care Home Open Day 16 June.
Whitgift House is inviting the local community for a day of friendship, entertainment and refreshments as part of Care Home Open Day 2017.
With ‘friendship’ being the theme of this year’s national Open Day event, Whitgift House will welcome all in the local community to meet residents and staff and hear their stories on Friday 16 June.
The Home, opened in 1985, has always taken pride in the local community offering a Lunch Club to local and retired residents, raising funds for charity and welcoming hundreds of local school children through its doors for work experience or community service.
70 residents currently reside at Whitgift House either in Sheltered Living or Full Nursing Care, alongside a recently launched Day Care service, the 1596 Club.
As part of the Whitgift Care family run by The Whitgift Foundation, the Home is characterised by its warm and friendly atmosphere, a passionate and dedicated staff team and a host of weekly activities, special celebrations and themed events.
Doors open at 2pm and there will be refreshments, short tours of the Home plus live entertainment from Nick Brown at 3:30pm.
Care Home Open Day is aimed at encouraging local people to visit care homes in their community and to work together to develop better relationships.
Philomena Kavanagh, Head of Care, Whitgift House, said: “Staff and residents are delighted to be taking part in Care Home Open Day for the first time to welcome the local community to Whitgift House.
If people have misconceptions about care homes, then we are keen to dispel these myths and enable people to experience our warm, homely and friendly atmosphere that we are all incredibly proud of."
Whitgift House is located at 76 Brighton Road, South Croydon, CR2 6AB – do come along!
