Whitgift House

Whitgift House, opened in February 1984, consists of:

  • 34 units of sheltered accommodation
  • 12 bed sits downstairs for nursing care
  • The Hugh Wilson Wing on the upper floor for nursing care.

Sheltered accommodation consists of 34 one-bedroom flats with individual front doors leading to a shared hall and entrance. They also contain a sitting room, bathroom and kitchen.

Residents in sheltered accommodation tend to be very self-sufficient. A bus stop just outside Whitgift House allows easy access to the shops and the town centre. Many of the residents take part in social activities such as the lunch club, croquet, aerobics and the arts and crafts summer fair. There are many opportunities for the development of individual talents and interests.

Residents who are less able are offered cosy but spacious rooms with excellent care facilities.

Whitgift House has its own Chapel and is set in the same picturesque grounds as Whitgift School.
