•    Living in a long-stay residential/nursing home or other long-stay faculty;
•    A front line health, education or social care worker.

The Centre also offers a range of other services for carers including free NHS Health Checks, to people aged 40-75, who are registered with a Croydon GP, every Wednesday 10am-4pm.

Helen Thompson, Manager, Carers’ Information Service, said: “The flu virus can be particularly problematic for both carers and the people they care for. If a carer becomes ill, they may not be able to look after the person they care for, or they could pass the virus on to that person who may be at risk from the complications of flu. We strongly recommend that carers and those at risk take this opportunity to protect against flu and stay healthy this winter.”

The sessions are being run in partnership with the Croydon LPC (Local Pharmaceutical Committee).

The Centre is funded by The Whitgift Foundation and Croydon Council and run by the Foundation’s Carers’ Information Service.

Information and advice is available at the Centre for carers on any aspect of their caring role as well as a range of social activities such as ballroom dancing and singing sessions.

The Carers’ Support Centre on George Street, the first high street drop-in centre of its kind for carers in the UK, has had more than 16,000 enquiries since opening.
