Call for Croydon’s carers to come along to free Information Day at Fairfield Halls
Carers are invited to come along to the annual Carers Information Day, a borough-wide event, to find out about the array of support and services that are available to them. More than 50 organisations will be at the free Information Day taking place on Wednesday 3 June 2015 in the Arnhem Gallery at the Fairfield Halls, from 10am to 4pm.
Carers, and those who work with them, are given a unique opportunity to look round information stalls and meet representatives from the statutory and voluntary sector organisations in the borough that may be relevant to their particular caring situation.
The event is as vital as ever to reach people who have a caring role and ensure that they are aware of all the local services that may be able to support them and the people they are caring for. There will be a coffee area in the main entrance for carers and professionals to be able to meet informally.
The Carers Information Day precedes National Carers Week (8-14 June) – an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. The event is run by The Whitgift Foundation’s Carers’ Information Service and funded by Croydon Council.
Helen Thompson, Manager, Carers’ Information Service, said: “Carers make such a valuable contribution to our society – they save the economy over £119 billion each year – and we owe it to them to make sure they are accessing all available support to help them with their caring role.
An Information Day such as this is a way for carers, who have limited time and energy, to talk to a range of service providers under one roof and to meet other carers to chat with and share experiences.”
