Specialist advice sessions available for parents and carers at the Carers Support Centre.
The Carers’ Information Service runs a monthly calendar packed with a wide range of support services and specialist advice to carers at the Carers Support Centre, based at 24 George Street, Croydon.
Here we’ve put together a selection of three forthcoming activities at the Carers Support Centre to highlight what is taking place:
- Family Lives will be running a fortnightly drop-in advice session for parents/carers of a child with special educational needs (SEN). The session will also provide an opportunity for carers to receive help with the Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) process as well as offer impartial information and support. This service is also available to young people with SEN, aged 16+. If you would like to attend, just pop in to one of our drop-in sessions on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month: if you would like further information or would like to arrange an appointment, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
- If you are a parent of a child with a disability, the Family Fund may be able to help by giving grants for household items, holidays or days out. A member of staff from the Family Fund is available to help complete the application form and talk generally about caring for a disabled child. Next session is on Thursday 18 Feb, 10.30am-12.30pm. There is no booking required, simply drop by on Thursday 18 or 25 February from 10:30am – 12:30pm.
- Finally, for a fun way to shake off the pressure, come and learn the Cha Cha Cha with a professional dancer and friend of the Strictly stars! The regular ballroom dancing lessons are a great way to meet and network with a community of carers over tea and biscuits, and dancing of course! Sessions are currently running on the 12 and 26 February and 4 March. To book your place, email email@example.com or call 020 8649 6280.
