Thank you to everyone involved in making this year’s festival a success enjoyed by thousands.

Croydon Heritage Festival drew to an explosive close as Trinity School Big Band played a medley of jazz favourites in the foyer of Fairfield Halls on Friday 4 July.

Following two weeks of more than 100 events, the festival organiser, The Whitgift Foundation, would like to thank everyone who got involved to make this year’s festival a massive success and enjoyed by thousands of visitors.

The fantastic variety of events would not have been made possible without the 75 local organisations and individuals who offered up their time to ensure that Croydon’s rich and vibrant heritage is kept alive for all in the community to explore.

The festival took place from 21 June to 4 July to celebrate Croydon’s often overlooked past as the town looks to an exciting future of regeneration and redevelopment.
Talks on historical faces and places, workshops linking the arts and heritage, tours of architectural gems, guided walks, performances and even a medieval pageant took place during a packed fortnight of events.

The Foundation would like to extend a special thank you to this year’s sponsors for supporting aspects of the festival: the Croydon Partnership for Croydon Heritage Day in North End on 21 June; Stiles Harold Williams for Croydon Heritage Exhibition at Fairfield Halls and the Croydon Guardian for the festival photography competition. Thanks also go to Fairfield Halls, the Whitgift Centre and Centrale for hosting events and providing competition prizes. A list of all organisations involved can be found here.

If you attended a heritage festival event, we would love to hear your views to make next year’s festival even better. Please fill out a short feedback survey here.

Interested in getting involved next year? Please email communications@whitgiftfoundation.co.uk outlining your expression of interest.
