Major building works are now well underway at Whitgift House and Wilhelmina House.
Whitgift House, a full nursing care home with sheltered accommodation, South Croydon, and Wilhelmina House, a residential care home in Park Hill, are undergoing extensions to their communal areas by contractors, Logan Construction.
Both Homes will benefit from larger conservatories, allowing for more space for group events and activities, as well as improved staff areas. Wilhelmina House will also have a larger kitchen area and four additional bedrooms.
Construction started at the Homes on 18 May with much care being taken to minimise disruption for residents.
At Whitgift House the works are scheduled to last for 25 weeks and to date trenches for the new day room have been dug and all below ground drainage is in place.
At Wilhelmina House, works will continue for a longer period of 37 weeks with all demolition of the existing conservatory and walls complete. Residents are very pleased that the temporary wall in the dining room has been transformed into a tropical island feature to brighten up meal times and to enhance the feel of summer in the home.
