The famous Webb Ellis Cup will be displayed at Trinity on September 8 2015.
Rugby World Cup 2015 has unveiled the route for its 100 day RWC Trophy Tour. Trinity School in Croydon, which will also host France as a Team Base during the Tournament, is delighted to announce it will host the prestigious Webb Ellis Cup on September 8 2015.
The date coincides with former Rugby player and coach, Sir Clive Woodward’s visit to the school.
The Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour in the UK and Ireland starts on June 10, marking 100 days to go to Rugby World Cup 2015. The 100-day continuous Tour will visit Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales and England, arriving at Twickenham Stadium on September 18 ahead of the Opening Ceremony.
During the Tour, the Webb Ellis Cup will visit over 300 events ranging from community rugby programmes to Host City festivals, iconic national landmarks and Team Bases like Trinity. There will be hundreds of opportunities for fans to see the Webb Ellis Cup, including September 8 when the Trophy Tour is hosted at Trinity School.
Director of Rugby, Aaron Liffchak commented: “Rugby is at the heart of Trinity’s sports scene. Hosting the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour will be a brilliant way to engage our pupils and also the wider community with the Game. It will create a great sense of excitement ahead of France joining us for the World Cup.”
Last year it was announced that Trinity will host the French national team during the World Cup.
