Determined Trinity students swim the English Channel to raise money for homeless charity.
A group of Trinity students will soon swim the English Channel to raise money for homeless charity Crisis.
Niamh Singleton, Funmi Weeks, Will Perry, Tate Nicol, Sarah Rogers and Adam Eastlake have been training in cold water, including lakes, open air pools and beaches, so they are ready for the 21 mile, one-way system to reach France.
The group have been sea training since May, using every weekend in July and August to prepare themselves for the challenge. Recently the team has started swimming at night to get used to the inevitability that the majority of the attempt may be in the dark.
The English Channel is the busiest shipping lane in the world, with over 400 vessels travelling through it each day. The race will take place between the 8th and 15th September – the exact date is to be confirmed.
