Whitgift announces partnership with concussion management company, Return2Play.
Whitgift is proud to announce their partnership with the concussion management company, Return2Play. Together Whitgift and Return2Play are committed to ensuring gold-standard concussion care for Whitgift’s pupils. Industry-leader, Return2Play, manage the recovery of concussed players efficiently and safely, ensuring they only return to play as soon as it is appropriate to do so.
Return2Play was founded by two Old Whitgiftians with a passion for rugby, Dr Sam Barke and Nick Somers. Their concussion management system ensures compliance with the new Rugby Football Union guidelines allowing schools, and any sports organisations where concussion is a risk, to improve player welfare. The pair strongly believe that properly managing a player's return to play after a concussion will significantly reduce the risk of long-term harm caused.
It was also recently announced that Old Whitgiftian and Wasps Rugby Club player, Elliot Daly, is Return2Play’s ambassador.
Whitgift’s Director of Rugby, Mr Chris Wilkins commented, “We are delighted to have announced our partnership with Return2Play. Whitgift is always dedicated to pupils receiving first-class advice on when and how they can return to physical activity. Putting the safety of our pupils first is paramount and this collaboration will clearly achieve that goal.”
Nick Somers, CEO & Co-Founder of Return2Play, said "Working with Whitgift, whether that be the medical team or the Sports Department, has been an absolute pleasure. The professionalism and dedication of all the staff, with regards to player safety, is terrific to see and parents can be reassured that the welfare of the boys is central to their efforts."
