Local carers attend Carers Rights Day at the Carers Support Centre.

Carers dropping in to the Carers Support Centre received up-to-date information and advice on their rights as part of national Carers Rights Day this year.

Carers were able to pick up brand new guides on mental capacity, confidentiality and Power of Attorney, as well as the national Carers UK Carers Rights Guide.

Newly registered carers were also encouraged to take away a carers’ information pack, packed full of local information on services and how to access further help.

The event was part of the national campaign to champion the rights of the UK’s 6.5 million carers. Taking up a caring role is often unplanned and unprepared for, so this year’s campaign aimed to help new carers start Preparing for the Future.

Since every day should be Carers Rights Day, carers can still visit the Carers Support Centre, open Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm, to learn more about the support they may be entitled to.

The Carers Rights Day guides are also available to download online.
