Old Palace Senior School Choir’s spectacular tour of Vienna.
During the summer holidays the Senior School choir visited Vienna, where the students were lucky enough to perform in three of the City’s grandest churches.
Their first concert was at the Votivkirche, which featured the whole programme of secular and sacred music.
Mr Griffith, Director of Music said: “The performance seemed to go down well, as some audience members who led choirs themselves came to ask us when we were next singing.”
The second concert was a short, sacred performance in the Stephansdom, whilst their final concert was at the ornate Peterskirche. It once again featured an array of sacred and secular favourites bookended by some impressive improvisations by the resident organist. As the very last performance for the Year 13 students, the choir had to end the concert with Chilcott’s ‘Like a Singing Bird’, an Old Palace favourite!
